Wild Astral
A mandala made from our drawings of blue lotus, fireweed, chamomile and passionflower

Gathered by hand, timed by the sky

Wild Astral is three of us in Mariposa, California, in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. We forage herbs from our own riverside land and from friends' farms nearby, make a few things from them each season, and write down the day and the moon for every harvest.

How we gather

From land we know

Our own acres on the river, and the farms of friends who wave us in. If we can't name the hillside, it doesn't go in the box.

A little at a time

[Your foraging rule: how much you take from a stand and what you leave behind.] It's why there's never much, and never the same thing twice.

By the sky

Every harvest gets a note: the date, the moon's phase and sign, the place and whose hands. The notes travel with whatever we make from it.

The plants

We draw every herb we work with, and keep a page on where it comes from and what people have turned to it for.

We test everything in person first, at [market name, day and hours] in Mariposa. What people love there is what we keep making.
